a note for you
This day is filled with so many preconceived ideas of how it should be, if in a relationship, the pressure is on, if single, the pressure is still on. Let it go! If you’re fortunate to be in a relationship, I say, show your love for them everyday…maybe today kick it up a notch if that’s what you’re into but do it because you want to acknowledge this day, not because of the pressure of retailers. If it’s not sincere, what’s the point? But keep your sweetheart in mind, if this day is special to them, put at least a Rolo on their pillow.
Now, if you’re fortunate to be single, I feel you and I say enjoy the quiet time and do something for yourself. Acknowledge what this day is, a very expensive Tuesday for many but really, embrace it, it’s about “Love & Friendship”. Take yourself out or treat yourself to something but stop comparing. By comparing yourself to others it will only cause you to go into a downward spiral of thought where, let’s face it, won’t be very pretty. Reframe that mindset, count 5 things you’re actually really happy about right here, right now. Go! Next year, you might be in a relationship and dealing with the ups and downs of what it brings. Focus on yourself today. Be kind. The pressure you already put on yourself every single day is a bit much, don’t you think? Take a rest day this evening. Let yourself simply…be.
How am I spending my Valentines you ask? Taking up a Kundalini yoga class for the first time, dinner and a movie. No work tonight.
